Healthy Popcorn Recipe from Glenn McElhose on Vimeo.
Hello – and welcome to dirtsalad! What is this site? Well, to me it’s basically about random dirt/happenings/etc that take place in one’s close proximity and then they are tossed together in some sort of salad – a video salad that is. I’m going to post 1 video per week. Initially, it’ll be shot and edited by myself, Glenn. However, my long term goals are to get others to help out in any way possible. It’s all about getting people together and creating content that promotes a sort of awareness, consciousness, and environmental type style in a fun and engaging way. I’ll actually try to explain this better with a video – I’ll do that for next week, or soon anyway. Also coming soon is an update to this site. I know it’s bare-bones and rather template oriented now, but at some point soon I’ll get time to make it a bit more original.
Ok, so here’s this weeks video. It’s about making popcorn. Why? Well, my girlfriend Kristin is a therapeutic chef and typically cooks or prepares meal plans for people that are trying to prevent cancer, heart disease or diabetes by using foods as medicine. In this video, you will learn how to make popcorn that tastes crazy good and uses ingredients that are actually good for you. Hope you enjoy and please feel free to write in with any questions/comments to comments at dirtsalad.com
Hmm, that email address seems to not be working right now. Let’s go with comments@keyholeproductions.com for now. Sorry.
Thanks for stopping by!

@Glenn McElhose: Yeah, sorry about my rhetoric; I must have been in a persnickety mood — perhaps instigated by some unhealthy food!
I’m curious: why do you use the label ‘vegetarian’ especially in such contradictory context? The way I see it: you’re either are a vegetarian or you’re not — I’m not placing value on either. You could just as easily say, perhaps, “I have a primarily plant-based diet,” or something along those lines w/o falling into the trap of labels (which I find to be a psychological and emotional hinderance in general, not just the illustrious ‘vegetarian’ [or better yet, 'vegan']).
Most absurd, I find, are people who describe themselves as ‘pescatarians’, ‘flexitarians’, or ‘pollotarian’ — it seems like a desperate attempt to grab onto the trend or buzz of ‘vegetarian’ while not changing one’s diet. “I’m a vegetarian, but I eat chicken at times…” …well then you’re not a vegetarian! Sorry, this isn’t pointed at you Glen, just at the silliness of labels people cling on to.
I personally see my diet and health as a that of my own responsibility — not as a need to adhere to a set of principles of some collective set forth by ‘vegetarians’ or anyone else. I don’t eat meat for my own reasons, not those dictated by an external collective, and, consequently, if I should choose to eat meat sometime in the future, I don’t feel I’ll have some struggle with my ego (external self displayed to the world) — or worse yet, the trivial berating of people saying “…hey, you’re eating meat! You’re not a vegetarian!” That’s right… because I don’t make such a claim. I’m guided by my own principles, not the threat of social repercussions.
