Plastiki from Glenn McElhose on Vimeo.
A couple weeks ago I had the privilege to visit David Rothschild’s Plastiki project happening at Pier 31 in San Francisco along with treehugger.com founder Graham Hill. We ran in to take a quick look at how things were underway and here’s what we shot on the spot real quick like. There’s a part 2 I’ll post shortly, but here’s a quick, barely edited version of the tour.
I have broll to add later – so this is the rough cut. Enjoy – let me know what you think. I definitely would like to do an updated version later on to see where things are with the project – super inspiring as it is. More to come.

David Rothschild looks like Gaius Baltar from Battlestar Galactica… BTW great project
What were his shoes?
They’re called Tom’s shoes. Here’s their tag line: “For every pair you purchase, TOMS will give a pair of shoes to a child in need. One for One. Using the purchasing power of individuals to benefit the greater good is what we’re all about.”
Seems like a great company – doing good things.
I need to check em out myself.

I love these guys and their visions – but should we just ignore the gas guzzler of a BMW in the background?
But great ideas – they really thought it through !
do you know where i can find more information about the competition he mentioned?
thanks so much!
