Road Split

China Travel – 1st couple days.
Day 1 – flight from SFO to Beijing. While on the flight, as well as right before getting off of the plane, we had medical type folk dot us in the forehead with a thermometer instrument that tested for high fevers slash swine flu evidence. This did not happen on the way back to the States – guess we’re not as concerned here in the US. Once we arrived, I was about to get up out of my seat on the plane only to notice that nobody else was moving about. I guess bad weather diverted us to somewhere in Inner Mongolia. After 5 hours on the tarmac, we now had missed our flight from Beijing to Kunming – and thus had to get a hotel room near the airport.
After finally getting the lights on in my room (several breakers had to be flipped), I checked in on Tim and Kevin to find Kevin wrapped up in his “skeeter-keeper-offer’ outfit that he had decided to wear to bed. Good call as there was plenty of blood evidence on the wall of skeeter massacres over the last few weeks – the blood was still yet fresh. Regardless, he still wakes to a fat lip – one created not by Tim and his sleep walking, punching motions, but by mosquito’s! Somehow his full jacket mechanism settled onto his face and a mosquito just happened to land there on that spot and hit Kevin in the lip.
Too bad it didn’t work out for Kevins new anti-skeeter outfit. However, it was probably more comforting to have that on and have a better chance at ignoring that crazy flying sound that mosquito’s make. How do they make that noise btw? What are they doing? How could it be such an annoying sound – is it just because of our association with what they create after they do their business? That itchy bumpy mound?
Ok, I’m done writing for now. Quick highlights and happenings right off the top of my head:
- drink lots of tea. On day 2, Tim is quoted as saying “hmm, this looks familiar” – about sitting down to Puerh tea tasting. Note – this is day 2.
- tea is good.
- toilets are bad. Well, I actually like the squat action – I hear/have read – that it’s way better/healthy/natural for the person as well. Regardless, it’s actually kind of comfortable.
- Glenn almost shoots Kevin in head during Roman candle firework battle – more on this later. Also – more pics are viewable here.

I shall update later with a few more stories from the trip as well as some video action – we also shot 2 episodes of “Random” – so more to come.

Can’t wait to see the videos, Glenn!
Glad you guys made it back safe! Hope everyone had a great time and look forward to some interesting videos and maybe a laugh or two! Keep up the sweet work Glen, and Kevin/Tim good work on Random (perfect name by the way), btw Glen we need more crazy food ideas from you and your girl! Kevin on the side note of tea, i saw you in a video with kamboocha tea, could you enlighten me a little more, couldn’t find much info on it and do you have a preferred way of making it?
Thanks again for your continuous entertainment.
The One and Only,
Legend
I would love to travel to Asia. Great pictures, I’m looking forward to the episodes of Random and other footage of your trip. Awesome!
Glad to see you’re updating. I can’t wait to see the full trip on Dirt as well as the videos! Anxious and excited. Think they’re like cousins. Related.
Loving the travelogue – keep it coming Hippy Glenn!
Looking forward to the video footage of China and the new Random episodes.
One friendly suggestion though… the page can be rather slow given that the full sized images are included in your posts.
If you include a smaller version of the images in your posts and make them link to the full sized images, this will make the page load and scroll much faster. This can be specially notices with the picture of Kevin’s swollen lip.
Great site you’ve got here! Love the name and design of the page btw.
Keep up the good work!
ahh – great suggestion. Thanks for letting me know, I had no idea – shall definitely keep that in mind for next time I add pics.
Nice post
A picture of that anti-skeeter jacket would be cool, though
I find the sound of the mosquitoes much more annoying than their bites, by the way. Sometimes I let my foot out from under my full-body cover just to navigate them away from my ears.
Mosquitoes presses their lips together and hum.
Seriously though, it is the sounds of their wings vibrating/flap. Interestingly it is only the female mosquito that stings and that is because she needs the nutrients in blood, before she can produce eggs.
[...] Video In case you haven’t seen any of the earlier posts, (Pre-China Trip, Random Ep 4 or some quick writes) we recently took a quick run out to China to taste and learn about Puerh tea (wikipedia link, [...]
