ok, apologies if I’m on this stop-motion style picture montage kick, but it is slightly addicting – fun, easy and fast to throw something together that conveys a moment pretty quickly (more so than video in some instances, to me anyway). so this quick montage is from a bunch of friends and I that camped out at Angel Island. my girlfriend, kristin, organized it and semi-last minute, decided to theme it up ninja style – so that’s what we did. the rangers over there are super cool and it’s an awesome place to camp – as the last ferry leaves the island at 4pm, so after 4, it’s only people that work/reside there and people camping. fun times. this was from a few months ago – just thought i’d post now since it’s been awhile since i’ve put anything up.

Hi Glenn,
I’ve been watching the Random episode with Tim and Kevin and you and it’s been fun and educational at the same time. I totally love it!
One thing I’ve been wanted to ask you is what do you use to edit all your movies? They look great and I especially like the special effects you did to them (such as the stop motion you did, the fast forward, etc). I just started to get into video editing and it will be totally appreciated if you could share some of your knowledge…if you don’t mind that is
Thanks and keep the great videos coming,
Hardy
Hey Hardy,
I use Final Cut Pro. I think you can get a somewhat similar effect with imovie or the like – just not sure about how well you can time it out. In FCP – I bring in stills at certain duration – like 4 or 5 frames per second – until they generally match the beat. From there, I just fudged the stills to match better as well as to do pushes on them on occasion – when it seems fit. Fun stuff anyway. Try it out and post some stuff – would love to see more of this as I think it conveys well (and is super fun to do).
Best,
Glenn
Great. I’ll try that. I’ll let you know how it turns out.
Thanks Glenn,
Hardy
Hi Glenn,
This will sound pretty silly but I just realize FCP is for Mac and I have PC …what’s the chances.
Have you ever done any video editing in PC and what will your recommend?
Cheers,
Hardy
Very cool stuff Glenn! Always enjoy seeing new stuff from you. Keep up the good work!
hi Glenn,
Please do not stop with the stop motion…i admit i watch your SXSW vid. once a week.
This is great! Also my compliments for the music taste/choice … it is broadening my music library!
Regards,
Diederik
ha! cool, thanks diederik!
you have now given me the go-ahead to continue stop motion edits and shall thus continue! just needed some approval – heh!
What’s the story on all the abandoned houses and buildings in the area? Looks like a great place for shooting photos but I’m on the opposite coast.
Did you do this all through photographic stills or was some of it taken out of video stills? Love the work… keep it up
Johnboy
yeah, just all stills – no video in this one. i’ve tried adding the ‘stop motion’ effect in Final Cut to video clips but it just doesn’t ever come out the same. works for small short portions but seems too calculated for longer clips.
Again your videos, be they stop-motion or some other trickery, are positively awesome. I must throw my vote in with Diederik , and say do what you do, and *dont stop. *
But again, I must ask, who is the artist you chose to make your stills jump? Your taste in music is just as good as your skill with FCP.
Great work once again, if you had to edit on a pc what program would use? Adobe?
hmm, not sure – haven’t tried editing on a PC but I’m sure Adobe Premier is coming along pretty well as an editing platform – probably the best option PC based!
Great video Glenn!
what is the song that you chose for it?
Awesome stuff. I just moved to the SF Bay area and love watching your videos, of any type.
They’re so enjoyable, even though I bet it takes quite a bit of time to put together.
